  • Balancing the threeprinciple energies

Ayurveda identifies three basic types of doshas Or energies  can be called as functional principles thatare present in every individual on this earth. vata pitta  kaphaVatta is broadly said to be the energy of movement. Pitta is broadly said to be the energy of digestion andmetabolism. Kapha is broadly said to be the energy of lubrication andstructure. All the individuals have the quality of these three in differentratios, which identifies as prakruti Or body type. Like the poison is natural and inherent to poisonous insects, similarly, the Prakruti (body type) is inherent to humans. The body type isdecided during conception.

Concept of increase and decrease of doshas

Equal qualities lead to increase, and opposing qualities lead to decrease. For example, dryness is the quality of Vata. If a Vata body type person exposes himself to dry cold weather, his dryness and in turn Vata will increase, leading to dry skin. In the same way, oiliness is opposite quality of dryness. If he applies oil to the skin, then the dryness and related Vata is decreased. (Imbalance in Tridosha is disease. Perfect balance is health)

Concept of Six tastes

Svadu – Madhura – sweet,

 Amla – Sour,

 Lavana – Salt,

 Tikta – Bitter,

Ushna – Katu – Pungent,

Kashaya – Astringent

These  are the six types of
Rasa.

They are successively lower in energy. That means, Sweet taste imparts
maximum energy to body and the astringent, the least.

Effect of tastes ontridosha

Sweet, sour and salt   -
mitigates Vata and increases Kapha.

bitter, pungent and astringent tastes -mitigates Kapha and
increases Vata

Astringent, bitter and sweet taste- mitigates Pitta.

Sour, salt and pungent tastes-increase Pitta.

Spread of tridosha in body and Day night

In body - Tridosha are present all over the body, but their
presence is especially seen in particular parts. If we divide the body into
three parts

The top part upto chest is
dominated by Kapha Dosha,

Area between chest and umbilicus is dominated by Pitta

Area below umbilicus part is dominated by Vata.

In day night -

Vata Time (2:00 AM - 6:00 AM and 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM):

The hours of 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM are
considered Vata times.

It's recommended to engage in calming activities during these
hours to balance Vata.

Pitta Time (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM - 2:00 AM):

Pitta dosha dominates from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM to
2:00 AM.

The midday period is when digestion is strongest, so it's ideal
for the main meal of the day.

Nighttime Pitta (10:00 PM - 2:00 AM) is important for regeneration
and healing.

Kapha Time (6:00 AM - 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM):

Kapha is predominant during 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM to
10:00 PM.

Morning Kapha is a time of calmness and stability, ideal for a
moderate exercise routine.

Evening Kapha is a time to wind down and prepare for restful
sleep.

Understanding these doshic cycles can guide lifestyle choices,
such as meal timing, exercise, and activities, to align with the natural
rhythms of the day and promote balance within the doshas. It's important to
note that individual constitutions and imbalances may require personalized
adjustment.

Vata

Vata is- composed of Space and Air element. Its  broadly present in whole body but their
special presence is seen below umbilicus part .vata governs mainly nerve
conduction, breathing, blinking, thinking, muscle movement.
